One tiny label secretly linked folk, trap, and afrofuturism

The story

Warp Records is the label everyone assumes is just for weird electronic music, but the actual catalog reads like a genre glitch. Grizzly Bear's hushed, orchestral 'Knife' came out of the same house that dropped TNGHT's earth-shaking trap-rave anthem 'Easy Easy,' and both share a roof with Flying Lotus's 2024 afrofuturist team-up with Dawn Richard on 'Let Me Cook.' Three completely different decades, three completely different audiences, one address on the paperwork. It's the kind of thing that makes you rethink what a record label actually is. Not a sound, not a scene — just people with impossible taste signing whoever they believe in.
