Three music videos built on faked or ghost vocals

The story

Some of MTV's biggest moments weren't what they looked like. Boney M's Bobby Farrell danced his heart out at Sopot in '79 without singing a single word -- that voice belonged to producer Frank Farian. A decade later Black Box put a model's face on Loleatta Holloway's vocals and got dragged to court for it. Then Sonic Youth, under the alias Ciccone Youth, walked into a Macy's photo booth just to poke fun at the whole illusion. Same trick, three different eras, one very real pattern hiding behind the glamour of the music video format. The camera loved a fake more than a few labels ever admitted.
