MARK GOODMAN

One of MTV's original five VJs who launched the network on August 1, 1981 alongside Alan Hunter, JJ Jackson, Martha Quinn, and Nina Blackwood. With his legendary wild curly hair and encyclopedic music knowledge, Mark introduced a generation to Michael Jackson, Madonna, Duran Duran, and countless others. He stayed with MTV through 1987, hosting shows like 'Basement Tapes' and interviewing everyone from David Bowie to Run-DMC. This is the voice that said 'Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll' when MTV changed the world forever. Mark Goodman didn't just play music videos—he was the soundtrack to an entire generation discovering rock and roll on television.
