MTV UK & MTV Europe
MTV Europe switched on at one minute past midnight on 1 August 1987, and the first video it played was Dire Straits' Money for Nothing, with Sting singing I want my MTV. MTV UK & Ireland followed on 1 July 1997 with Three Lions. This channel opens with the launch footage, that Dire Straits video and MTV UK's first day.
Then hundreds of videos documented in MTV Europe's own weekly playlists, the European Top 20, HitList UK and the EMAs, from Britpop and UK indie to Eurodance, mixed with original off-air VHS of Ray Cokes on Most Wanted, Pip Dann, Kristiane Backer, Paul King, Simone Angel, Davina McCall and Cat Deeley. Every 5-10 videos, only on this channel, the UK and European commercials come back.
An unofficial fan tribute. Not affiliated with MTV or Paramount.
